Building cooperative relationships with organizations that preserve traditional sports and games

..Japan, the oldest continuous nation in the world, has many traditional sports and games.
However, many of them have declined over time, and some are even on the verge of being forgotten. Our mission at ICTSG is to promote the preservation and revitalization of these traditional sports and games, ensuring they are passed down to future generations, and to compile information about them into a database.
Achieving our mission requires thorough research on traditional sports and games, as well as collaboration with preservation organizations and local governments involved in these activities.
Among traditional sports, popular and major ones such as sumo, judo, kendo, and karate are expected to continue into the future. However, there are many others, like gicchō, dakyū, bamboo sumo, kusarigamajutsu, and juttejutsu, that also require promotion and preservation.
As for games, traditional card games such as karuta, hanafuda, and sugoroku, which were once common in every household, have been replaced by digital games. Children playing with battledores during New Year's or spinning tops can hardly be seen anymore.
ICTSG JAPAN aims to establish close cooperative relationships with relevant private and public organizations to preserve and revitalize sports and games that have fallen behind the times. This is our project’s top priority.
